The use of gas fuel on operational cars belonging to Jakarta Provincial Government already proposed. We would use it as a pilot, which signifies that the government has committed to revoke subsidized fuel amounting to Rp 300 trillion per year
State-owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) requires all operational vehicles in the Jakarta regional working units (SKPD) to use gas fuel (BBG). As the initial phase, the policy will be imposed on official vehicles belonging to Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama, as a pilot.
"The use of gas fuel on operational cars belonging to Jakarta Provincial Government already proposed. We would use it as a pilot, which signifies that the government has committed to revoke subsidized fuel amounting to Rp 300 trillion per year," stated Vice President Corporate Communications for PT PGN, Ridha Ababil, at City Hall, Tuesday (8/12).
Lack of Gas-Fueled Station, Diesel Buses Gift AcceptedAbabil stressed her is ready to add more the mobile refueling unit around the City Hall in order to facilitate official cars for refueling. "If Mr. Basuki and Basuki are interested, her party will provide the fueled vehicles as a pilot and its converter kits in Jakarta," she promised.
Even she is also ready to add the gas filling station (SPBG). Thus far, Jakarta only has 11 SPBGs and 1 mobile refueling unit. This year, as many as 6 SPBGs and 2 mobile refueling units will be built.
According to her, investment for SPBG construction is not too expensive, only Rp 20 billion and Rp 10 billion for mobile refueling unit. But it is still burdened with land acquisition. "But we've asked Jakarta government to provide the market in a bid to attract customer," she exclaimed.
Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Muhammad Akbar uttered that in 1998, Jakarta government had imposed such policy, but it was stopped due to deserted from customer. "Precisely, it is caused by unavailable of SPBG in Monas," he explained.
He admitted there has been no discussion with the PGN on gas fuel for Jakarta government's operational cars. But if it is applied, there must be gubernatorial regulation, and his side and Industry and Energy Department would assist in the distribution of converter kits.
